Clementon School District

Gifted and Talented

Clementon Elementary School

Academically Gifted

The Clementon Elementary school addresses the needs of students who are identified as academically gifted in many ways.

Enrichment

Students of kindergarten, grade one and grade two will be provided with whole group evaluative enrichment lessons.  The content of these lessons will focus on higher level thinking skills.  Those students who have been identified through a teacher recommendation and standardized tests are provided enrichment materials within the classroom.  The gifted/talented program teacher may be consulted for additional materials.

Challenge Program

Students with accelerated general intellectual ability in grades three and four may receive enrichment through an individualized program or the Challenge Program.  A talent pool is developed through teacher nomination, intellectual ability, report card grades and standardized tests.  Challenge is a pull-out program that is based on cross-curricular higher level thinking skills activities with a focus on writing.

Galaxy Program

Students in grades five, six, seven, and eight who have excelled in reading and language ability receive alternate Language Arts instruction in the Galaxy Program.  Children are selected by teacher nomination, intellectual ability, report card grades in Reading and Writing, and standardized tests.
